Paragliding on Goizha Mountain
Paragliding on Goizha Mountain is both exhilarating and inherently risky. Participants, known as paragliders, rely on their own strength and weight to launch themselves from a high point, gliding through the air by maneuvering an arched parachute above them.
Seated in a harness connected to the parachute's lines, the paraglider steers and controls their direction. By running against the wind, they fill and open the parachute before taking off.
Club Information
The Sulaimani Paragliders' Club, established in 2008 by enthusiasts led by Nouri Ahmad, gained official approval from the Iraqi government in 2009. It remains the sole paragliding group in Sulaimani, with ten active members who regularly fly from the summit of Goizha Mountain, offering a spectacular view over the city.

Bekodyan Pond Trek
Bekodyan, the highest tourist attraction in the Kurdistan Region with an altitude of 3,198m above sea level, offers an unparalleled adventure for seasoned hikers.
Getting There
To see this remarkable natural wonder, you need to drive three hours from Erbil to Choman and then trek seven to ten hours on foot. Your reward is reaching Bekodyan Pond, the highest natural tourist site in the whole region.
Location and History
Bokodyan Pond is located on the Sakran Mountain, which is part of the Zagros Mountains chain, in Erbil's Choman district. The pond is named after the Bekodyan family who dwells in the Rezena village, which is in the Sarkapkan subdistrict in Ranya town. The Bekodyan family takes their herd for pasture during the summer. They were the first ones to discover the pond.
Bekodyan Pond is popular in summer because there is always snow, even in summer days of July and August, making it a remarkable destination for those seeking unique natural phenomena.
The pond is now a well-known site for both local and international tourists seeking adventure in Kurdistan's majestic mountains.

Natural Beauty
The waterfall is surrounded by verdant landscapes and offers a refreshing atmosphere with its cool mist and clear waters. Multiple cascades tumble down the mountainside, creating a series of natural pools where visitors can swim during warmer months.
Visitor Information
The site features several amenities including picnic areas, small restaurants serving local cuisine, and souvenir shops. The waterfall is particularly busy during weekends and holidays, so visiting on weekdays is recommended for those seeking a more peaceful experience.
Best Time to Visit

Summer visits are popular for cooling off in the natural pools, though water levels may be lower. The site is accessible year-round but may have limited services during winter months.
A visit to Bekhal Waterfall can be easily combined with other nearby attractions, including the Rawanduz Canyon and Korek Mountain, making it a perfect addition to an itinerary exploring Kurdistan's natural wonders.
