Mosul Gate
Mosul Gate Situated on the western slopes of Amadiya, the arched stone gateway served as the exclusive entrance to the fortified town. A broad, meandering stone staircase traverses the 13-foot-wide gate adorned with four enigmatic carvings, speculated by some historians to depict Parthian or Assyrian kings from the 3rd century.This hints at the possibility that the entrance had been in use for centuries preceding the construction of the gate.The arch itself features a depiction of the sun, a recurring symbol in Kurdish architecture, encircled by a cord with four knots, symbolizing the geopolitical importance of the ancient city.
Known by various names such as Bahdinan Gate, Sipna Gate, Mosul Gate, Western Gate, or simply the Old Gate, it was the sole access point to the city, distinguished by its easily recognizable design.
Qobahan School
This school was found during the region of Sultan hussein Wali (1534-1576) AD.It was built in Amadiya vally and is considered one of the most famous school in the region at that time with an area of (400)m2.This school lasted until 1961, and historians indicate that its library contained (2000) books.Page updated
