In 2012, amidst the ISIS chaos in Northern Iraq, I felt a deep sense of helplessness witnessing the destruction of historical sites. Fueled by anger and a desire for a purpose, I immersed myself in history, exploring uncharted territories across Iraq. This pivotal experience reshaped my life igniting a profound passion for history, especially that of Iraq. Fast forward to January 2024 and after eight years abroad, I returned to Iraq for 25 days. Venturing through nine provinces, I realized the untapped beauty and historical treasures that make Iraq truly enchanting! Through my lens, I aim to show these undiscovered gems to bridge the gap between past and present. My name is Ziyad Berwari, and I reside in Duhok, Kurdistan. I am 28 years old, a photographer with a background in engineering, and I also work in humanitarian aid. From a young age, I have been inspired by photographers who travel, explore, and embark on adventures. This inspiration led me to pursue my own journey, exploring the stunning nature and majestic mountains of Kurdistan. Through my photography, I aim to capture the beauty of our land and share it with the world, showcasing the splendor of Kurdistan. I capture my photos using a DSLR camera and sometimes using the different type of phones to demonstrate the capabilities and power of each phone camera. I encourage and advise everyone to help keep Kurdistan clean, preserving its natural beauty for future generations.
